Kitty's Frequently Asked Questions

Should my child wear a swim cap?
Where can I get good goggles for swimming?
I have a love/hate hate relationship with goggles. I love it when kids keep them on their eyes, with little adjusting. I hate it when kids mess with them to distraction. I encourage goggles if a child isn’t opening their eyes under water. I recommend goggles for all my upper level classes, Level 5-6 and Developmental. [back to top]
What happens if there is a threat of thunder or lightening?
Mars Hill College has a local radar system I can look at in the Aquatic Directors office. If a active storm cell is overhead I will clear the pool and wait until it passes. This could take up to 30 minutes. There is no make-up for weather. [back to top]
Should my child wear a swim cap?
You have a couple options here. If your child has long hair please pull it up. Hair is obstructive when trying to breathe to the side. Caps are great to keep the hair out of the eyes and from obstructing the airway. [back to top]
