Classes
offered Fall through Winter (August - February)
Kinderswim
(4 - 5yrs)
No experience necessary. Parent does not accompany child in the
pool, but must be available for the child to go to bathroom.
Level 1-2 (6
yrs & up)
Introduction to water skills. Student learns to submerge head,
float on front and back. Arm and leg movements are emphasized.
Student learns to tread water.
Level 3-4 (6yrs
& up)
Student begins to development competitive strokes. Skills build
on those in level 1-2. Streamlining and kicking skills for all
four competitive strokes is taught. Student gains experpience
with kneeling and standing dives, treading and leveling off.
Level 5-6 (6yrs
& up)
Student continues with endurance work with Freestyle and Backstroke
using full length of 25 yard pool. Stroke development of Breast
and Butterfly continues. Fins are used for strength and stroke
development.. Students begin competitive diving from regulation
starting blocks.
Developmental
Swim Team (6 yrs & up)
Students work on all competitive strokes and turns. A pace clock
and timed sets are introduced. This practice teaches students
practice techniques used by swim teams.
Adult beginner (over 18 yrs):
The student will become adapted to water, will learn to float
on front and back, will learn arm and leg movement. Treading water
also taught.
Classes
offered Summer (June-Aug)
Same as above plus:
Preschool (2-3yrs):
One adult with child in pool. Swim diaper is
required. Water adjustment and swim skills learned through
songs and games.
Schmidt Swimming “Stars” Summer Team:
Fun Summer Team that competes locally with other Summer Teams
in the area. Practice is 1 hour, 5 days a week. Meets are Saturday
Mornings and last about 4 hrs.
