Welcome_to_The_Phoenix_Swim_Team.pdf
Welcome to S.W.I.M. We are a year round USA swimming team training in the beautiful Western North Carolina mountains. Our home pool is at Mars Hill College in Madison County. Our swimmers ages range from 8-14. We practice up to 5 days a week and attend local meets. We also travel to meets in other parts of North Carolina.
Our Coach Kitty Schmidt Has been either teaching swimming or coaching for the past16 years. She was a program director for Swim America for 4 years and also was a asst age group coach for 4 years in Hampton Roads Virginia. She was asst Coach for 2 years and then Head Coach for "PEAK" swimming in Asheville North Carolina. After running her own swim program at Mars Hill College for 4 years teaching babies to adults, she started a summer team that competes locally. S.W.I.M. will be a traditional age group program. Emphasizing on proper stroke technique, streamlining, balance in the water. We will also work on being a team and how to work independently.
For a child to progress in competitive swimming commitment plays an important role. Practicing 3 days a week will keep what condition you are in now. Practicing 4 or more days a week will increase your cardio strength and endurance and will help your neurological functioning as well.
Competitive swimming has two seasons:
Short Course (Sept- March)
Long Course (April 1- July 30th)
Included in this packet is a USA Swimming Registration. Please fill out and return to Kitty by April 15, I will also need a copy of birth certificate or passport. I can't finish registration without it.
Payment for the team can be split in two payments, registration needs to be included in the first payment, second payment is due June 1st.
Athletes will be assigned to their practice groups by Kitty, She will let you know when you join the team.
Any other questions please feel free to call Kitty at 828-777-8545
Please don't ask questions during practice, it's very distracting to the athletes and Coach.
Thanks
Kitty
